¹⁸ that Jonathan perished because Simon would not send Trypho the money and the boys. ¹⁹ Therefore, he sent both the boys and the one hundred talents, but Trypho broke his word and refused to release Jonathan. ²⁰ Next, Trypho set out to invade and ravage the country. He made a detour along the road that leads to Adora,^[a] but Simon and his army kept marching opposite him every place he went.
